WFW advises SGI on launch of joint HyBRIDS project with SCB

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Società Gasdotti Italia (“SGI”) on the launch of the HyBRIDS – HYdrogen Bidirectional Redelivery Injection & Dynamic Storage facility project (“HyBRIDS project”) joint venture with Società Chimica Bussi (SCB).

The HyBRIDS project’s primary objective is introducing green hydrogen into the Italian gas network through the use of innovative technologies aimed at making hydrogen produced from renewable sources and with low emissions more easily usable by civil and industrial users. The economic and ecological advantages of the HyBRIDS project lie in the ability to field test procedures and equipment for the continuous mixing of hydrogen-methane, thereby developing innovative know-how to applicable to future projects.

In this context, the HyBRIDS project is positioned as benchmark and milestone in the ecological transition to a more sustainable future.

SGI is the second largest natural gas transmission operator in Italy in terms of network extension and is a member of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance.

SCB is a chemical company based in Bussi Sul Tirino (Pescara, Italy) and a member of the Gestioni Industriali Group (GIG), the main player in the Italian electrolytic base chemicals sector. The WFW Italy team that advised SGI on contractual and regulatory matters comprised Public Law, Regulatory & Competition Counsel Giannalberto Mazzei and Corporate and Dispute Resolution Senior Associate Arianna Neri.
