Adaptive Lighting with Digital Matrix LED headlights arrive on the all-new Audi Q9 SUV

(Oilandgaspress) -–Audi announced today that its adaptive driving beam (ADB) Digital Matrix LED headlights will be available to U.S. customers for the first time on the all-new, full-size, 2027 Audi Q9 and SQ9 flagship SUV models. The new micro LED technology will be available when the new models arrive at U.S. dealers later this year.

Unlike conventional high beams that switch on or off as a single unit, Digital Matrix LED technology continuously shapes the light pattern in real time, keeping more usable light on the road while reducing glare for other road users. Using front-facing cameras, the system detects oncoming traffic and vehicles ahead, then selectively masks the light around them, allowing the driver to maintain maximum illumination in all other areas, while minimizing glare for other road users.

With the introduction of the all-new, full-size, 2027 Q9 family of flagship SUVs, Audi engineers have developed a system which meets the United States’ D.O.T. regulations for glare, while simultaneously delivering the high performance of the adaptive systems already widely used in Europe for more than a decade.
