Mercedes-Benz customers in Germany can now pay for e-Vignettes directly from their vehicle Mercedes-Benz customers in Germany can now purchase and pay for e-Vignettes directly through the Mercedes-Benz Store from their vehicle[1]. The convenient, digital acquisition of e-Vignettes eliminates the need for a stop at the country border, including waiting in line at the payment area. Travelers save valuable time and reach their desired destination faster and more comfortably. e-Vignettes can initially be purchased for Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Hungary. The digital purchase of e-Vignettes for additional countries is planned.
How the digital payment for e-Vignettes works in a few steps

To start the purchase process, customers open the Mercedes-Benz Store in the vehicle’s infotainment system. In the e-Vignettes section, the countries for which an e-Vignette can be purchased are displayed[2]. Next, the desired destination country and duration are selected, and if not already stored, the license plate is added. Customers can then complete the purchase with two-factor authentication either via the fingerprint sensor in the vehicle or via smartphone. The amount is debited from the credit or debit card stored in the profile. After payment, the purchased e-Vignette can be viewed by clicking on e-Vignettes in the infotainment system. Additionally, the customer receives an email including a receipt and the e-Vignette in PDF format. Automatic license plate recognition in the respective country checks whether an e-Vignette has been purchased.
The purchase of an e-Vignette from the Mercedes-Benz Store is possible with a credit or debit card[3]. To make the purchase process as pleasant and seamless as possible, customers can pre-store their desired credit or debit card(s) as a payment method in their Mercedes me user profile. This way, card details do not need to be re-entered for purchases.
Mercedes-AMG launches extravagant art pieces with U.S. artist collective MSCHF As part of NYCxDesign Festival from May 15 to 17, 2025, Mercedes-AMG and the U.S. artist collective MSCHF will be presenting their collaboration. The artist collective is known for its extraordinary and attention-grabbing creations in a wide variety of fields – including fashion, culture, live performance, electronics and apps. Particularly popular are their Big Red Boots, which went viral and quickly sold out.
The cooperation with Mercedes-AMG that has now been presented sets a new milestone. Sculptural, experimental design objects that transform original components from AMG vehicles into exclusive pieces of furniture – as part of MSCHF’s signature practice of ready-made appropriation (an everyday object becomes an art object), working within a longstanding tradition of radical design. Precisely engineered AMG performance parts are combined with MSCHF’s creativity.

The pieces in the concept collection “Not for Automotive Use” pay homage to Italy’s Radical Design counterculture movement of the 1960s. In the tradition of this movement, MSCHF experiments with form and materials to reimagine a high-performance machine — a Mercedes-AMG performance model — transformed into an everyday object like a standing light, or an ergonomic chair. The design process of the artist collective tips its hat to Achille Castiglioni (1918-2002), the Milanese designer who took proletarian repurposing to new heights by integrating tractor and bicycle seating into his seat designs.
The very exclusive furniture pieces with AMG vehicle components are intended as conceptual explorations. They are available on an exclusively made-to-order basis in very limited quantities. The original AMG components are integrated creatively into the product. For example, a seatbelt buckle becomes the switch for a floor lamp. The designers also worked with iconic and characteristic AMG design elements such as the radiator grille, the silhouette of an AMG GT, the AMG Performance seat and the AMG cross-spoke forged wheel.
An exclusive capsule collection with graphical prints of AMG car parts completes the offering. MSCHF worked closely with the AMG design team in Affalterbach, Germany, to conceive and design all elements.
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 The Bugatti Veyron 16.4, unveiled in 2005, stands as a monument to this legacy, a hyper sports car born from an audacious vision that redefined the boundaries of possibility. Yet, the Veyron’s arrival was not a sudden revelation but the culmination of a remarkable conceptual journey. Between 1998 and 1999, a series of distinct design studies explored different facets of Ferdinand Piëch’s ambition, each paving the way for the final icon. The genesis of the modern Bugatti lies in the extraordinary ambition of Ferdinand Karl Piëch, then Chairman of the Volkswagen Group. In 1997, inspired by a desire to create an automobile of unprecedented power and refinement, Piëch envisioned a revolutionary 18-cylinder engine during a Shinkansen train journey in Japan. Sketched on an envelope, this W18 configuration became the conceptual heart of Bugatti’s resurgence after Volkswagen AG acquired the brand rights in May 1998. Piëch sought not just speed, but a car capable of exceeding 400 km/h while offering the comfort, elegance, and usability expected of the marque, a challenge that demanded entirely new engineering solutions.

To bring this vision to life, Ferdinand Piëch enlisted Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign to deliver a new vehicle concept. The first result of their collaboration, the EB 118, debuted at the Paris Motor Show in September 1998. Presented as an elegant, imposing two-door coupé, the EB 118 captured the essence of a grand tourer. Its design was defined by a long, sweeping bonnet – necessitated by the size of its front-mounted, 6.3-liter naturally aspirated W18 engine producing 555 PS – and featured a distinctive central bulge that paid homage to the spine of iconic Bugatti models like the Type 57SC Atlantic. Inside, the cabin embraced Art Deco influences, emphasizing luxury, comfort, and artisanal craftsmanship. Combined with the car’s advanced engineering, including its unique W18 powertrain and permanent four-wheel drive, the EB 118 stood as a bold statement of intent: a seamless blend of Bugatti’s heritage and forward-thinking innovation.
Xpeng Motors won the Shanghai Climate Week Lighthouse Model Award , becoming the only car company to win the award on the supply chain side this year. The winning case was the “Carbon Inventory Disclosure for the Whole Life Cycle and Supply Chain Carbon Empowerment Project”. The authoritative recognition of Shanghai Climate Week demonstrates Xpeng Motors’ innovative practices and industry-leading advantages in the field of supply chain carbon management. As one of the four major global climate agendas, Shanghai Climate Week, with the purpose of “Chinese Action, Asian Voice, World Standard”, has rapidly emerged as an important international platform on par with New York, London and Paris Climate Week. Its “Climate Lighthouse” selection activity continues to promote the low-carbon transformation of the industrial chain through strict policy interpretation, case selection and experience sharing. This year’s selection produced 11 “Lighthouse Model Awards” and 24 “Excellent Case Awards” winning companies. Xpeng Motors was honored on the same stage as internationally renowned companies, which fully demonstrated Xpeng Motors’ outstanding performance in the field of ESG.

This honor is due to Xpeng Motors’ innovative practices in supply chain carbon management. Faced with the current situation that 62% of suppliers have insufficient awareness of “dual carbon” according to a 2024 survey, the company innovatively launched the “Supplier ESG Empowerment Plan”, which adopts a combination of “digital tools + collective training + one-to-one assistance + customized services” to empower suppliers’ carbon management capabilities. During the project period, two rounds of collective training covering 106 suppliers and more than 300 people have been successfully held. At the same time, the project also provided more than 54 one-to-one carbon management empowerment services, and issued a customized “Carbon Management System Construction Research Report” for some suppliers, successfully attracting 16 companies to actively participate in the carbon support plan.

New HPEV (High-Performance Electrified Vehicle) super sports car unveiled in France Automobili Lamborghini executives were in attendance for the occasion, including Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman & CEO, and Paolo Racchetti, Product Line Director Temerario[1]. Stephan Winkelmann presented the Temerario exclusively for the first time in France during an exceptional event.
The latest creation from the Sant’Agata Bolognese workshops, the Lamborghini Temerario is a new hybrid supercar featuring a twin-turbo V8 engine that pushes the limits of performance, driving pleasure, and comfort. Boasting a 920-horsepower powertrain, it reaches a top speed of over 340 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. It also features a brand-new sound signature, specifically designed to heighten emotion with every acceleration. The Temerario is Lamborghini’s second model in the High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) range, following the Revuelto, and marks a key milestone in the brand’s electrification journey. It completes the hybrid transition of Lamborghini’s entire range, following the recent launch of the Urus SE.

The Temerario’s design hints at the future of Lamborghini’s legendary mid-engine sports cars while retaining clean, sleek lines that are athletic and well-defined. At first glance, the Temerario reveals Lamborghini’s DNA: integrated aerodynamics, a bold shark-nose front, and a new hexagonal daytime running light signature. The interior mirrors the extraordinary exterior design, creating a balance between digital and physical experiences. Lamborghini employs and combines high-quality materials such as carbon fiber, leather, and Corsatex microfiber throughout the cabin. The Temerario offers significantly more interior space than its predecessor. A low, ergonomic seating position allows the driver and passenger to feel perfectly connected and integrated with the car while ensuring high levels of comfort, in line with Lamborghini’s philosophy of “feeling like a pilot.”
] The vehicle is not yet offered for sale and is therefore not subject to Directive 1999/94 EC. The fuel consumption and emissions data are in the type of approval stage.

Changan kicks off NEV production in Thailand Changan Auto has begun production at its first overseas new energy vehicle factory in Thailand, as the Chinese automaker accelerates its global expansion strategy.
A right-hand drive version of the Deepal S05 rolled off the assembly line on Friday at the plant in Rayong province, marking the start of operations at Changan’s Thai facility.
The factory currently has an annual capacity of 100,000 vehicles, which the company plans to double to 200,000 units in the coming years.
The site will eventually produce models across Changan’s three key brands—Changan, Deepal and Avatr.
The company already offers several NEV models in the Thai market, including the Deepal S07, E07 and the Avatr 11.
Over the next three years, it plans to introduce 12 additional NEV models to local consumers.
Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory reports strong exports in April Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory exported nearly 30,000 vehicles in April, marking its highest monthly export volume in the past 12 months, the company said on Wednesday.
This achievement comes as the China-made Model Y gains strong popularity in overseas markets. The New Model Y, which made its global debut in China in January this year, is now being exported to Australia and multiple Asian markets including the Republic of Korea, according to Tesla.
The US electric auto giant’s first-quarter earnings report revealed that the New Model Y helped the company achieve a record-high single-day order volume in the Asia-Pacific market following its launch.
In the ROK alone, the New Model Y sparked a buying frenzy on the very first day orders opened. Tesla’s official website briefly crashed due to overwhelming traffic, while Korean consumers lined up outside showrooms in large numbers.
Long road to go until AI passes its driving test, says Li Auto CEO l The head of Chinese new energy vehicle maker Li Auto has urged the automotive industry to rethink how artificial intelligence is deployed, arguing that AI will only drive real meaningful progress once it becomes a capable productivity engine rather than a glorified assistant.
He went on to explain what he called a three-stage framework for understanding AI adoption: a tool for information like a search engine, a tool in the form of an assistant, and finally an active agent for production to replace human beings.
Most current AI applications, he said, are still in the first stage, where they offer Google-like outputs or surface-level answers based on vast datasets. The real value, he argued, will come when AI becomes capable of producing tangible, high-quality work in place of humans.
That shift is especially relevant to the auto industry’s race to build intelligent driving systems.
Volkswagen investors demand chief executive step down as Porsche head Top investors in Germany’s Volkswagen are demanding that chief executive Oliver Blume step down from his second position as the boss of luxury carmaker Porsche.
Ingo Speich, from the Deka investment fund, said on Friday during Volkswagen’s online annual general meeting that considering the difficult situations facing both companies, Blume should decide to lead only one of them.
Porsche is a subsidiary of Volkswagen, the country’s leading carmaker. Both are currently led by Blume and have been undergoing serious financial difficulties in recent years.
In order to turn the tide at Volkswagen, Blume must have “both hands on the wheel,” said Speich.
Criticism also came from other shareholder representatives, with Janne Werning from Union Investment saying that Volkswagen currently only has a part-time chief executive “who is in over his head.”
Blume defended his position, arguing that “the dual role is a recipe for success.”

Renault 4 Savane 4×4 Concept makes its global debut Premiered from 19 May on the Renault stand at the Roland-Garros French Open tennis tournament, Renault 4 Savane 4×4 Concept is a show car of stylish, go-anywhere looks, designed for the modern-day “gentleman explorer”. The name of Savane was already synonymous with exploration back in the 1950s. And in 1986, Savane continued its journey with a version of Renault 4 that was more laid-back, but still ready for adventure. Today, it is making its return with a vehicle expressing an even greater sense of freedom.
Renault 4 Savane 4×4 Concept features a second electric motor on the rear axle for permanently available all-wheel drive. It is agile on muddy, snow-covered and unsurfaced routes, and even on terrain that demands offroading capabilities. This show car demonstrates the potential of the AmpR Small platform to create a B-segment electric vehicle with four-wheel drive.
Renault 4 Savane features bodywork in Jade Green, a new colour whose chic appearance is underlined by the gloss black bumpers and wheel arches. The roof features a printed fabric, based on pixel variations, for a concealment effect. The conventional stops on the front and rear bumpers are replaced by new 3D-printed parts with shock-absorbing properties. A specific “4Savane” logo can be seen on the side of the vehicle, while the tailgate states its identity as a 4×4.
