Captona Expands Leadership Team with Brydne Slattery as General Counsel

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Captona, a diversified energy transition investment firm, today announced the addition of Brydne Slattery as General Counsel. Slattery will oversee legal functions and support the acquisition and management of new assets, including several large-scale transactions slated for 2025—further strengthening Captona’s senior leadership team at a time of significant momentum for the firm.

Brydne brings extensive experience advising on all aspects of energy transition investment projects,” said Izzet Bensusan, CEO and Founder of Captona. “Her corporate equity investment experience and sector expertise will provide necessary strategic support as we expand our business and usher in the next era of growth critical to the clean energy future.”

Slattery will advise on an array of legal and compliance matters for the firm, which has deployed more than $2 billion in financing across 30+ utility-scale renewable energy and clean fuels projects in North America, including storage, solar, microgrids, fuel cell, and RNG.

Slattery will also support the acquisition and management of several new renewable energy transactions slated to take place in 2025.

Brydne’s appointment builds off the momentum of a successful 2024 and reflects our proven track record of delivering innovative energy transition finance solutions for our investors and developers. Our unique financing structures enabled us to close several large-scale preferred equity deals over the past year, putting us in a position of continued growth in both full acquisitions and preferred equity deals for 2025 and beyond,” said Bensusan.

Slattery was previously Senior Legal Counsel at Onyx Renewable Partners, where she advised across all aspects of the development, construction, financing and asset management of numerous generation and energy storage projects, as well as negotiated and structured a variety of commercial and financial arrangements. She began her career as an associate in the M&A group at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. She holds a JD from Harvard Law School and received her BA from the University of Edinburgh.
