Changqing Oilfield’s daily gas output hits a new high

(Oilandgaspress) -] Between January 1 and 14, Changqing Oilfield maintained average daily gas output of 158 million cubic meters (mcm). Output on January 4 alone surpassed 160 mcm, setting a new record for the critical winter supply season and ensuring a stable gas supply to more than 50 major cities across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia regions.

As the pivotal hub of China’s onshore gas pipeline network, Changqing Oilfield proactively implemented comprehensive winter supply guarantee measures while tackling operational challenges including a large number of low-yield wells and reduced peak-shaving capacity. Calculations show that the daily output of 160 mcm can meet the average daily consumption needs of approximately 160 million households, which is equivalent to replacing about 212,800 tons of standard coal, ensuring gas supply and reducing carbon emissions.

The key to maintaining and boosting production lies in technological innovation. Given that over 85% of its resources are “three-low” (low permeability, low pressure, and low abundance) tight gas, the company has achieved 30 core technological breakthroughs and innovated three key technologies. These measures, combined with the stimulation of existing wells, have boosted the average daily single-well output by 15% and shortened the single-well commissioning cycle by over 15 days.
