(Oilandgaspress) -–XPeng Group’s first mass-produced Robotaxi officially rolled off the production line in Guangzhou. This marks the first time in China that a vehicle manufacturer has completed the mass production of a Robotaxi using a fully self-developed, stack-based approach.

At the mass production rollout ceremony, leaders from the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government, the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, the Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Bureau, and Huangpu District jointly attended and witnessed the event. The head of XPeng’s Robotaxi business unit stated that demonstration operations are expected to begin in the second half of this year.

it is based on XPeng’s flagship model GX. The vehicle is equipped with four self-developed Turing AI chips with an effective computing power of 3000 TOPS, which is the highest computing power in the world for vehicles. It is also equipped with XPeng’s second-generation VLA big model to achieve L4 level autonomous driving capabilities.

In January of this year , XPeng Group obtained a road test permit for intelligent connected vehicles in Guangzhou, officially entering the stage of routine L4 public road testing. In March, XPeng Group established a Robotaxi business unit to coordinate the entire process of product definition, R&D testing and operation, accelerating the commercialization process.
