(Oilandgaspress) The American Petroleum Institute (API) reported a decline of 11.1 million barrels bringing stockpiles to 420.3 million barrels for the week ending February 4 The U.S. was the world’s largest crude oil producer in 2024, with production reaching a record 13.5 million barrels per day in December 2024. Texas is the largest crude oil producing state, but New Mexico has seen the most significant growth. OPEC+ alliance met virtually on February 1, and agreed to maintain their current voluntary oil production cuts through March 2026.

U.S. Rig Count is up 2 from last week to 546 with oil rigs unchanged at 411, gas rigs up 3 to 125 and miscellaneous rigs down 1 to 10.
Canada Rig Count is up 1 from last week to 232 with oil rigs down 2 to 156, gas rigs up 3 to 76 and miscellaneous unchanged at 0.
International Rig Count is up 14 from last month to 1,079 with land rigs up 3 to 839, offshore up 11 to 231. But is down 20 rigs from last year’s count of 1,099, with land rigs down 7, offshore rigs down 13.
