Mitsui & Co., Ltd. has launched a project to reduce methane emissions through the use of alternate wetting and drying (“AWD”), a water-efficient rice-growing technology, in partnership with Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (“Bondhu”), an NGO with an extensive track record of initiatives with local farmers in Bangladesh. Mitsui aims to use the Joint Crediting Mechanism* (JCM) for this project.
AWD is a water management method for paddy rice cultivation. Multiple times during the growing period, the fields are drained and allowed to dry thoroughly before being flooded again. Paddy field soil contains methane producers. Under anaerobic conditions (environments in which oxygen is absent or extremely scarce), these organisms consume materials like rice straw and release methane, a potent greenhouse gas. With the AWD method, large amounts of oxygen are supplied to the soil, thereby impeding methanogenic activity in the soil and reducing the amount of methane produced. This approach can be expected to reduce methane emissions by around 30% compared with the usual continuous flooding method.. Related News
Mitsui & Co is close to buying a stake in the second phase of QatarEnergy’s massive North Field project as it seeks to secure stable liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply, five sources close to the matter told Reuters. If reached, the deal would bolster Japan’s energy security as it looks to meet an increase in electricity demand from the artificial intelligence boom with conventional fuels, since adoption of renewable power is slowed by delays at wind power projects. The value of India’s crude oil imports from Russia fell to a 38-month low of $2.7 billion in December 2025, with Russian oil making up less than a quarter of India’s imports, down from 34% just a month before, an analysis of the latest data shows. Imports from the U.S. grew nearly 31% over December 2024. India’s Russian oil imports, at $2.7 billion in December 2025, were 15% lower than the amount imported in December 2024, and 27.1% lower than the $3.7 billion worth of imports in November 2025. As a result, Russia’s share in India’s overall oil imports fell to 24.9% in December 2025, the lowest in three years. In terms of volume, too, India imported 5.8 million tonnes, the lowest since February 2025. Related News

VinFast Auto Ltd and autobrains announce strategic partnership. The strategic collaboration focuses on the research and development of enhanced L2++ autonomous driving technologies for future VinFast electric vehicles. VinFast’s current EV passenger lineup is equipped with Level 2 driving assistance features, and the upgraded L2++ system is already undergoing pilot testing on the VF 8 and VF 9 models. This partnership establishes a strong foundation for VinFast to progressively integrate more advanced autonomous capabilities across its full product portfolio, underscoring the company’s commitment to delivering safer, smarter, and more intuitive mobility experiences for customers worldwide. In addition, the partnership will explore and develop the “Robo-Car” system — a first-of-its-kind AI architecture that eliminates the need for costly LiDAR, radar arrays, or HD maps. Instead, the system leverages seven standard cameras and a compact, high-performance computing chip capable of processing approximately 20 trillion operations per second, enabling advanced autonomous functionality at a fraction of the cost and complexity of traditional systems.
The Robo-Car system is powered by Autobrains’ Agentic AI architecture, which adapts to real-time driving scenarios with humanlike precision while minimizing computational demand and removing the need for costly hardware. Combined with Autobrains’ Air-to-Road localization, a camera-based mapping technology that fuses real-time visual data with satellite imagery to eliminate HD map dependence, this foundation enables a scalable and affordable Level 4 autonomous solution for both emerging and advanced markets. VinFast and Autobrains are now testing the Robo-Car in controlled zones in Hanoi, with plans to expand trials to larger cities and international markets. Related News
