Eni and University of Padova to explore energy transition

University of Padova and Eni today have signed a cooperation framework agreement for the energy transition, digital transformation, and the circular economy, during an online meeting attended by the Rector of the University of Padova, Rosario Rizzuto, the President of Eni, Lucia Calvosa, and Eni CEO, Claudio Descalzi.

The three years long partnership, with a possible extension to five years, strengthens the existing collaboration on key areas for Eni, such as geology and geophysics, and identifies new strategic lines of research on sustainable development and decarbonisation: new technologies for Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage, for harnessing solar energy, as well as studies on magnetic confinement nuclear fusion.

Eni’s CEO Claudio Descalzi stated: “We have signed a strategically important agreement that boosts the accomplishment of our 2050 decarbonization targets. This innovation-led cooperation sets the stage for overcoming the challenges that companies and civil society have to face through the development of technologies for the future of energy”.
