Eni expands cookstoves production in Mozambique

(Oilandgaspress) -–Eni Natural Energies Mozambique – Eni’s company dedicated to energy transition activities – and Instituto Superior Dom Bosco (ISDB) celebrated today the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the improved cookstoves production unit, to be installed at the Salesian Vocational Training Centre in Maputo province. The initiative is part of the Clean Cooking Programme promoted by Eni in the Sub-Saharan Africa.

Launched in 2023, the Clean Cooking Programme has already enabled the distribution of more than 200,000 cookstoves across the provinces of Maputo, Sofala, and Manica, benefiting approximately 1 million beneficiaries. This initiative aims to expand the access to clean energy, reduce the use of biomass, and improve the health conditions of the beneficiaries, particularly among the most vulnerable populations. The project is already employing about 120 young Mozambicans across the entire value chain, from production to distribution.

With the new facility, the project will be able to increase the daily production capacity from around 350 to 500 cookstoves and will generate additional jobs. This initiative will further strengthen the partnership with Instituto Superior Dom Bosco, creating opportunities for technical training and internship programmes for local students.
