London, February 13, 2025 (Oilandgaspress) –- From 14-15 February, the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia will host the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for the very first time since the all-electric series was created. Held on a three-kilometre shortened version of the Corniche track, rounds three and four of Season 11 promise more action than ever.

Formula E and the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) are using this event to launch PIT BOOST: a new feature that offers a 10% energy boost (3.85 kWh) thanks to an ultra-rapid charge (30 seconds at 600kW) that will take place during a compulsory pit stop in the middle of the race. PIT BOOST is one of the big innovations of Season 11 and will be deployed in one of the two races at each double-header (Race 1 at Jeddah). This latest feature will have a significant impact on the strategies of each of the 11 teams on the grid. As usual, the DS PENSKE squad will be able to rely on the talents of the entire team and its two drivers, Jean-Eric Vergne and Maximilian Günther, to overcome the challenge of this latest twist in Formula E. The Jeddah races will take place on Friday and Saturday at 18:00 CET (20:00 local time). Read More

Electric vehicle (EVs) sales have slumped in Britain, with the public struggling to fall in love with the technology.
A shortage of public chargers fuels ‘range anxiety’ among motorists worried about where they can top up their batteries, while high prices have also put off would-be buyers. Now, a report has revealed how quickly the battery degrades in EVs. Experts from Which? surveyed over 3,500 EV owners to understand how much the range of their car has decreased since they bought it.
Their results show that for cars registered just seven years ago, the average range decreased by seven per cent.
‘Like all batteries, the cells that power an EV will degrade over time,’ Which? explained in the report. ‘However, our data shows that while battery degradation in EVs is an issue, it’s not as bad as you might think in the first few years of ownership.’ The report comes shortly after a surprising study claimed that EVs are even more reliable than traditional cars and vans with petrol and diesel engines. . The synergy between the Ferrari F80 and Le Mans-winning 499P is clear, particularly both cars’ advanced V6 hybrid powertrains. But while remarkable, the F80’s adoption of cutting-edge motorsport technology follows the same formula as the GTO, F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari before it. Read on to explore their stories below…
1984: 126 CK Formula 1 car inspires turbocharged GTO
The GTO was first in a line of rarefied supercars that continues with today’s F80. It was born to comply with new Group B racing regulations mandating a minimum of 200 road and race cars be produced, but Formula 1 technology informed its turbocharged V8 powertrain.
With 2.8 litres and twin turbocharging, the GTO – often informally referred to as the 288 GTO by its admirers – produced a fearsome 400 cv with 496 Nm torque.
It launched in 1984, the same year Michele Alboreto and René Arnoux raced the 660 cv Ferrari 126 C4 In Formula 1. But foundations for both the GTO and the 126 C4 were laid three years earlier with the Ferrari 126 CK. Featuring a 1.5-litre V6 engine, it was the first turbocharged Ferrari Formula 1 car in history.
