Latest Energy News As Reported | Canada Rig Count is down 12 from last week to 93

London, 28 April, 2023, (Oilandgaspress) : Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Accenture in collaboration with WindEurope have developed a digital permitting solution prototype for wind permitting across Europe that could significantly ease the bottleneck around the energy transition Wind energy is a strategic industry central to Europe’s energy security strategy. Wind already meets 17% of Europe’s electricity demand today¹. The European Commission wants wind to be half of Europe’s electricity by 2050. This move to clean and renewable energy is critical to decarbonise Europe’s economy but the backlog in wind permitting across Europe could significantly bottleneck the energy transition. That’s why Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Accenture in collaboration with WindEurope developed a digital permitting solution prototype. We are calling on industry players to help further improve this pilot system, beta testing for the first time at the 2023 WindEurope Annual Conference. User feedback will refine the solution, so that when deployed, it can accelerate the time-to-value for wind farm developers, municipalities and local communities. . Read More

SAF-powered flights will start to take off in the second half of 2023 with each flight using a fuel blend with about 35% of Neste MY SAF. Comments from Akio Toyoda, Toyota Chairman of the Board

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd.’s wrongdoing is a matter that concerns safety, which is the most important aspect of vehicles. We consider this an absolutely unacceptable act that betrays the trust of our customers. We would like to sincerely apologize to our customers around the world and all related parties for the inconvenience and concern this has caused.

Since this problem occurred with a Toyota brand passenger car, we believe that the problem is not limited to Daihatsu. We will begin by conducting a detailed investigation and thoroughly collecting facts to understand the situation, determine the true cause, and work diligently to prevent a recurrence. We will also inform the public in a timely manner regarding the facts we learn through our investigations.

I personally promised our customers that Toyota would not run away, lie, or distort the truth during the recall crisis in 2009. Nevertheless, we find it to be a serious matter that such a problem has occurred at one of our group companies.

As the top executive officer, President Sato will take responsibility for improving the car manufacturing operations of Toyota and the group companies, while I, as the Chairman of the Board and with my recall issue experience, will lead initiatives for governance and compliance. The Toyota Group as a whole will do its utmost to regain the trust of our customers as soon as possible. Read More

ADNOC L&S Expands its Global Operations at Philippines LNG Import Terminal

ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S), the shipping and maritime logistics arm of ADNOC, announced today the successful berthing of LNG carrier, Ish, at the AG&P Philippines LNG (PHLNG) Import Terminal in Batangas Bay, as it continues expanding its operations globally.

Following her arrival, Ish will be commissioned as a Floating Storage Unit (FSU) at PHLNG, the first LNG import terminal in the Philippines. AG&P subsidiary, GasEntec, converted the vessel, which has a capacity of 137,500 cubic meters, to an FSU in five months. The supply, operations and maintenance of the FSU will be undertaken by ADNOC L&S.

The agreement to charter Ish to AG&P, was signed in 2022 and spans 11 years with the option to extend a further four years. This arrangement bolsters ADNOC L&S’ FSU revenue stream and extends the life of the vessel while securing PHLNG’s resilience of LNG supply. The agreement builds on an existing long-term charter signed between ADNOC L&S and AG&P to provide another FSU in India. Read More

EPA Issues Emergency Fuel Waiver for E15 Sales

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today is issuing an emergency fuel waiver to allow E15 gasoline — gasoline blended with 15% ethanol — to be sold during the summer driving season. This action will provide Americans with relief at the pump from ongoing market supply issues created by Russia’s unprovoked war in Ukraine by increasing fuel supply and offering consumers more choices at the pump. The waiver will help protect Americans from fuel supply crises by reducing our reliance on imported fossil fuels, building U.S. energy independence, and supporting American agriculture and manufacturing. Current estimates indicate that on average, E15 is about 25 cents a gallon cheaper than E10. EPA’s emergency fuel waiver will go into effect on May 1 when terminal operators would otherwise no longer be able to sell E15 in the affected regions of the country and will last through May 20 which is the statutory maximum of 20 days. EPA will continue to monitor the supply with industry and federal partners, and the Agency expects to issue new waivers effectively extending the emergency fuel waiver until such time as the extreme and unusual fuel supply circumstances due to the war in Ukraine are no longer present.
