Momentive Technologies Acquires Spherical Alumina and Spherical Silica Businesses From Sibelco

Broadens ceramics product portfolio to include spherical alumina and spherical silica

Strengthens ceramic powders portfolio for thermal management applications in electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, consumer electronics, and telecommunications markets

CLEVELAND–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Advanced materials provider Momentive Technologies has completed the acquisition of Sibelco’s spherical alumina and spherical silica businesses located in South Korea.


The acquisition broadens Momentive Technologies’ ceramics powder product portfolio and strengthens its innovative work on thermal fillers used in thermal interface materials (TIMs). TIMs are relied on to help manage heat, sustain high performance, and contribute to the longevity of valuable power electronic and battery systems for:

  • Electric vehicles (EV)
  • Artificial intelligence
  • Renewable energy
  • Consumer electronics
  • Telecommunications
