15 Dec New wind projects in South Africa
ACCIONA Energía will begin construction of two new wind farms totalling 194MW in South Africa in the coming weeks. Etana Energy, a leading energy trader in South Africa, will purchase all the renewable electricity generated by the two wind projects –Zen (100MW) and Bergriver (94MW)– for the first 20 years of operation.
Located between Gouda and Saron in the Western Cape, Zen and Bergriver will produce around 580GWh of renewable electricity per year. This output will supply a range of Etana Energy’s customers, including Growthpoint, the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, Tharisa Minerals, Petra Diamonds and Autocast.
The wind farms will be owned by ACCIONA Energía (51%) and a joint venture between H1 Capital and Chariot Limited (49%), companies specialising in the development of, and investment in, renewable energy projects. Read More
