06 Jan Petrobras and Vale in partnership to supply high-performance fuels
(Oilandgaspress) Petrobras and Vale have signed a contract for the supply of diesel to the mining company’s operations in Minas Gerais .
The agreement involves the supply of S10 diesel , produced by Petrobras, with the addition of the mandatory biodiesel component, currently at 15%. The agreement also foresees opportunities for low-carbon business development , such as the possibility of buying and selling Diesel R (diesel with renewable content) and potential negotiations for the supply of HVO ( Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) . Since 2023, the two companies have been collaborating on business partnerships for the development of low-carbon solutions.
In 2024, a cooperation agreement was established, including tests of Diesel R5 (5% renewable content, in addition to the mandatory 15% biodiesel) and bunker fuel with a 24% renewable component. The commercial partnership with Vale is part of Petrobras’ strategy to get closer to the end consumers of its products.
