VW announces 2027 Atlas EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings

London, (Oilandgaspress) – Volkswagen of America announced the official fuel economy ratings for the 2027 Volkswagen Atlas. The midsize SUV is fitted with the new EA888 evo5 turbocharged and direct-injection 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI® engine, producing 282 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Power improves by 13hp over than the outgoing vehicle—and is the most ever seen on an Atlas model—and the new engine provides better EPA-estimated fuel economy than the 2026 model by up to 2 mpg (highway and combined).

As in the previous generation, an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard, and Volkswagen’s 4Motion® all-wheel-drive system is available across the lineup. A hybrid variant is planned to arrive with the midcycle refresh.

Atlas models equipped with front-wheel drive have an EPA-estimated rating of 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. Atlas models equipped with the optional 4Motion all-wheel drive system have an EPA-estimated rating of 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.
