Waymo Surpasses 14 Million Autonomous Rides in 2025 as Use Surges in US

London, December 11, 2025, (Oilandgaspress) ––Waymo says its autonomous ride-hailing service delivered more than 14 million fully driverless trips in 2025, tripling last year’s total and putting the company on track to exceed 20 million lifetime rides by year-end. The company reached a major milestone this spring, providing over 1 million autonomous rides each month, a figure Waymo aims to achieve weekly by late 2026.

Riders used the service for everyday travel and major life moments alike, contributing to more than 3.8 million hours spent in Waymo vehicles this year. Its all-electric fleet helped avoid 18 million kg of CO₂ emissions, three times last year’s reduction. Waymo also reported a 10× decrease in serious-injury crashes compared with human drivers, underscoring continued safety improvements as operations scale.
